The Provision Of A Traveler [This World To The Next]

Anas reports that when Salmân [Al-Fârsî] – Allâh be pleased with him – was ill, Sa’d visited him and found him crying, so he asked him:

O my brother, what makes you cry? Did you not accompany the Messenger of Allâh – Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him? Did you not do such-and-such [good deeds]?

He replied, “I am not crying over any one of two things: I am not crying out of love and yearning for this world nor out of dislike for the hereafter, but I am crying because Allâh’s Messenger – Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him – took a covenant from me about something I think I have only transgressed. He made me promise that it is enough for anyone only to have enough [of this world] as would suffice as the provisions of a traveler, but I think I have only gone too far. As for you o Sa’d, fear Allâh when you judge, and when you distribute anything and when you think about doing anything.

Thâbit (one of the reporters) said, “And it reached me that [when he died] he left only about twenty dirham of spending he had.

The Day You Will See Your Lord, Most High, With Your Very Own Eyes

The Day You Will See Your Lord, Most High, With Your Very Own Eyes

The believers will be blessed with seeing Allaah, their Creator, their Master, their Lord Most High!

Ibn Taymiyah mentiones the proofs for this in his beautiful book “al-Aqeedah Al-Waasitiyah”. What follows is the proofs mentioned (by Ibn Taymiyah) and followed by the commentry by Ibn Uthaymeen:

Ibn Taymiyah mentions:

And the proof for this from the qur’aan is below:

Allaah has said;

[Some] faces that day, will be radiant, looking at their Lord.” [Qiyaamah 75:22-23]

On adorned couches, observing.” [Al-Mutaffiffeen 83:35]

For them who have done good is the best [reward] – and extra.” [Yoonus 10:26]

They will have whatever they wish therein, and with Us is more.” [Qaaf 50:35]

And this is plentiful in the book of Allaah. Whoever ponders over the Qur’aan, seeking guidance from it, will have the path of truth clarified for him.

[End quote]

Below, is the commentary of Ibn Uthaymeen on his notes on Al-Aqeeda Al-Waasityah:

Notes: The slave seeing their Lord, the blessed, the Most High

The book and the sunnah affirm the slave seeing his Lord.

The evidence from the book is:

For them who have done good is the best [reward] – and extra.” [Yoonus 10:26]

The prophet (saw) explained the word “extra” to mean looking towards the face of Allaah, the Most High.

The evidence from the sunnah is the prophet’s statement:

You will see your Lord as you see the full moon in a clear night, you will not be impaired in seeing Him. If you are able not to allow yourself to be overcome for the prayer before the rising of the sun or for the prayer before the setting of the sun, then do so.” [Bukhaari 554, Muslim 633]

The analogy that is set up in this hadeeth is between the two visions and not netween what is beeing seen because the letter of analogy  (kamaa) is interacting with the verb of seeing (…) that has been transformed from the verbal noun. Furthermore, there is nothing like Allaah.

Imam Shafi’ee On Innovators

Quoted from al-Khumays “Itikadu aimatul arba” p 61.

al-Harawi narrated from Yusuf ibn Yahya al-Buwayti: I asked Shafi’ee “Can I pray behind rafidi?

He answered: “Don’t pray behind rafidi, qadari, murjii.

I said: “Describe them to me.

He said: “Whoever said faith is (only) by saying he’s murjia, whoever would say Abu Bakr and Umar weren’t imams, he’s rafidi, and whoever would attribute mashiya to himself, he’s qadari.

Raising Your Hands For Du’aa During The Friday Sermon?

Raising Your Hands For Du’aa During The Friday Sermon?

Shaykh Su’uud Shuraim (Imaam and Khateeb of the Holy Masjid in Makkah) writes in his book ash-Shaamil concerning this issue:

The Scholars have differed with regards to this and there are two opinions.

1) Raising your hands during the friday sermon is not allowed except during istisqaa (when the Imaam supplicates for rain).

This is the opinion of the Shaafi’is and the correct narration from the Hanaabilah aswell as Imaam az-Zuhree, Ibn Khuzaymah, Bayhaqi, an-Nawawi, Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn al-Qayyim, Ibn Hajar and Shawkaani.

Both ‘AbdiRazzaaq and Ibn Abee Shaybah reported in their Musannaf on the authority of az-Zuhree:
The raising of the hands during the friday sermon (during the supplication) is an innovation, and the first person to introduce it was ‘Abdul Maalik.

2) The raising of the hands during the friday sermon (for supplication) is allowed and there is no problem with that. This is the opinion of al-Bukhaaree and some of the Maalikiyyah, and one of the reports of the Hanaabilah.

Imaam al-Bukhaaree made a chapter in his famous Saheeh giving it the title “Raising of the hands during the friday sermon” and reported the hadith of Anas bin Maalik wherein which the Prophet raised his hands when he made the istisqaa.

Conclusion:

After looking at the evidences the correct opinion seems to be – and Allah knows best – with those who say it is not allowed except for when the Imaam makes istisqaa.

And knowledge is with Allah.

Time Is Precious

Time Is Precious

Al-Hasan Al-Basri said:

I have met people for whom time was more precious to them than how preciously you people covet coins of gold and silver.

And Al-Hasan Al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, also said:

There is not a day that the sun rises upon except that it calls out, ‘O Son of Adam, I am today: a new creation and your actions I am witnessing. Use me wisely for I shall never return to you until the Day of Judgement.

Protect You Honor, Dignity And Chastity… By Any Means Necessary

Protect You Honor, Dignity And Chastity… By Any Means Necessary

A man hosted some people from Hudhayl. They sent a slave woman to fetch some firewood, and the host was attracted to her, so he followed her and wanted to have his way with her, but she refused.

He wrestled with her for a while, then she escaped from him and threw a rock at him and killed him. Then she came to her masters and told them what had happened (loyalty!).

Her masters went to ‘Umar (who was the khaleefah at the time) and told him, and ‘Umar sent investigators who found their tracks.

‘Umar said, “No diyah (blood-money paid by the assassin) is to be paid for one who was killed by Allaah.

He regarded it as legitimate to have shed the blood of that aggressor, so there was to be no qisaas (retaliation) or diyah, and no expiation was to be offered.
