But I thought that the scholars were 50/50 on it? Can someone please elaborate. I have been trying to find the names of classical scholars who said that the niqab is mustahab but I’m having some difficulty.
Please respond ASAP

Assalaamu ‘alaykum,
Sorry for the delayed response. Yes there is a legit difference of opinion over this matter. And in cases of legit differences of opinion, one needs to follow the opinion one believes to be stronger based on proofs. If one cannot do that then one can follow a scholar who one trusts.
