The State Of A Believer And A Hypocrite

Posted in Miscellaneous with tags , , , , , , , , on October 1, 2016 by TheAuthenticBase

[The Believer]

“And the believer – subhaanAllaah, glory be to You, O Lord – is liked by everyone no matter what. Why?

The believer isn’t fake. There is nothing you can hold against him. What he does in secret is what he does openly. There aren’t secret acts and public acts. He doesn’t have a personality in secret and a different one in public. They are both the same. So, if you were to peek into his life when he’s alone, you would find him even better than he is in public. If you were to see him at home at night, you would find him either praying, sleeping, eating suhoor, or reciting the Quraan. There is nothing you can hold against him. There is no girl he has snuck in to commit indecent acts with, nor does he have stolen money that he is counting.

His outer condition is like his inner condition. In fact, his inner condition is even better than his outer, and the early Muslims would say, “O Allaah, make our inner condition better than our outer condition, and make our outer condition good.” There is nothing you can hold against him. He has inner confidence, is sure of himself, and is relaxed.

[The Hypocrite]

As for the hypocrite, he fears that everyone will discover his faults and that they are privy to his sins. This is why it’s as if the suspicious person wants to tell people, “Take me away. Take me away.” Why? He is filled with faults, and he suspects that this person knows of them, that person found out, etc. So his whole life is full of anxiety and constriction.”

The News Of The Victory Of Al-Qaadisiyyah Reaches ‘Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab

Sa’d wrote to the caliph ‘Umar telling him of the victory, sending the letter with Sa’d Ibn ‘Umaylah Al-Fazaaree. In this letter it said:

“Allaah has granted us victory over the Persians, and has given them the same punishment as those who came before them, after a lengthy fight and much distress. They fought the Muslims with numbers the like of which has never been seen before, but Allaah did not benefit them thereby, rather he benefitted the Muslims instead.

The Muslims followed them along the rivers and riverbanks, and in the mountain passes. Among the Muslims, Sa’d Ibn ‘Ubayd Al-Qaaree and so and so, and so and so were killed, and other Muslim men whom we do not know, but Allaah knows who they are.

They used to recite the Quraan with a sound like the buzzing of bees when night came and they were the lions of mankind, although lions cannot compare to them.

Those who passed away are not better than those who were left, except by virtue of martyrdom, because martyrdom was not decreed for them.”

Before this letter reached ‘Umar, ‘Umar would stand outside Madeenah to see if anyone was coming from Al-Qaadisiyyah. He would wait from morning until mid-day, then he would go back to his family and his home. When the bringer of glad tidings came, he said, “Where have you come from?

He told him that he came from Al-Qaadisiyyah, and ‘Umar said, “O slave of Allah, tell me (what happened)!

He said, “Allaah has defeated the enemy.’

‘Umar ran beside him asking him questions and the man on the camel did not know who he was, until they entered Madeenah and the people started calling him as Ameer Al-Mu’mineen. He said, “Why didn’t you tell me that you were the Ameer Al-Mu’mineen, may Alaah have mercy on you?

‘Umar said, “Dont worry abut it my brother.”

The True Believer, By Sh. Saalih As-Suhaymee

Shaykh Saalih As-Suhaymee stated:

“The Believer is the one who, when he is reminded, it benefits him and when he is warned, (he) takes heed. When the believer hears, “Allaah said (or) The messenger (saw) said such and such…” his hert trembles and is ready to obey Allaah and His Messenger (saw).

The Believers are not those who are not moved when they hear the remembrance of Allaah.”

Ibn Hajar And The Jew

Posted in Inspirational Stories, Miscellaneous with tags , , , , , , , , , on August 5, 2010 by TheAuthenticBase

Ibn Hajar Al Asqalani (a chief of the court in Egypt) used to wear very nice clothes. Once he met a Jew wearing old /torn clothes. The Jew stopped Al Asqalani and asked him: “Don’t you see the situation I am in and compare it with the bounty you enjoy, although I am unbeliever and you are believer? How can you explain your Prophet’s saying: ‘Life on this earth is like a prison for the believers and a garden for unbelievers?

Ibn Hajar answered him: “Although you have a miserable life on earth, you will consider yourself in paradise compare to what you will suffer in the hereafter if you die as an unbeliever. For me with all this bounty I have, if Allah Subhanahu wata’ala will reward me with Paradise, then this life will be like a prison to me compared to life in Paradise.

The Jew said, “If it is so, then I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Prophet.

The hadeeth is saheeh. Collected in Muslim, Ahmad, Tirmithee, & Ibn Maajah.

The Story Of Umm Habibah; A Loyal Wife By All Means

The Story Of Umm Habibah; A Loyal Wife By All Means

Umm Habibah was married to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the proxy of the Emperor of Abyssinia. She was the daughter of the chief of Makkah.

Her name was Ramlah bint Abi Sufyan. She was born 25 years before the Hijrah. Being the daughter of a prominent merchant and leader of her people, Umm Habibah enjoyed a very easy and comfortable life.

She — herself one of the few literate Arabs at the time — was married to a wealthy Makkan who was versed in the knowledge of major religions of his time. Despite the fierce resistance the Makkan polytheists showed to Islam and the fact that her own parents were among the arch enemies of Islam, Umm Habibah was one of the early converts to Islam.

Out of fear for his followers, Prophet Muhammad advised them to emigrate to Abyssinia on the Western Arabian side of the Red Sea that separated the Peninsula from Africa.

Umm Habibah was one of the emigrants along with her husband, Ubaidullah ibn Jahsh. To her misfortune the husband, for some reason or another, apostatized and took to drinking.

Thus, Umm Habibah had to suffer not only separation from her home and family at Makkah, but she also suffered alienation from a beloved husband. Yet, as a courageous Muslim, she bore all these difficulties with patience and perseverance, finding solace in the freedom she enjoyed along with the other emigrants in Abyssinia under the protection of Emperor Negus who was an open-minded Christian.

Parenthetically, we may add that according to Muslim historians the Emperor of Abyssinia (known today as Ethiopia) did convert at a later date to Islam in secrecy, out of admiration for Islam and its teachings, which explains why Prophet Muhammad asked the companions to pray for him upon his death.

During the year of truce between the Muslims and the Makkan polytheists, Prophet Muhammad, sent messages to the heads of the big powers of the time, Khosrau of Persia, the Byzantine emperor and the ruler of Abyssinia.

Along with the missive calling Negus to Islam, the Prophet asked him to act proxy for him in the marriage to Umm Habibah. For Prophet Muhammad realized the agony she was going through in that far and strange land.

From The Weapons Of The Believers In Their War Against Shaytaan: Sticking To The Book And The Sunnah

From The Weapons Of The Believers In Their War Against Shaytaan: Sticking To The Book And The Sunnah

By Shaykh ‘Umar Sulayman al-Ashqar

[Excerpt from “The World of the Jinn and Devils”]

The greatest thing that can be used as a defense against devils is sticking to the Book and the sunnah, by one’s knowledge and by one’s actions. The Book and the sunnah present the straight path, and it is Satan who struggles to steer us from this straight path. Allah says in the Quran,

And He (commands you, saying:) This is My straight path, so follow it. Follow not other ways, lest you be parted from His way. This has He ordained for you, that you may ward off evil.” (al-Anaam 153).

The Prophet (peace be upon him) explained this verse.

He once drew a straight linee with his hand and said, “This is the straight path of Allah.” Then on its left and on its right he drew other lines and he said, “These paths all have Satan calling (people) to them.” And then he recited the above verse. [This was narrated by Ahmad, al-Haakim, who called it sahih, and al-Nasa’i]

If the person follows what has come from Allah in his beliefs, actions, words, worship, law, and so on, and avoids what He has forbidden, then he will be protected from Satan. Allah says in the Quran,

Oh you who believe, Come, all of you, into submission (unto Him); and follow not the footsteps of Satan. Lo! He is an open enemy for you” (al-Baqara 208).

The Arabic word al-silm in that verse refers to Islam while some say it means obeying Allah and Muqaatil says it refers to all acts in which there is righteousness. From that we see that it is an order to apply all of the branches of Islam and all the aspects of its laws according to one’s abilities; and the verse prohibits the following of the footsteps of Satan. Whoever does not follow any part of Islam has, in fact, folllowed in some of the footsteps of Satan. Therefore any kind of allowing what Allah has prohibited or vice-versa is a following of Satan. Eating any forbidden and foul foods is all part of following in the footsteps of Satan that has been declared prohibited for us.

O mankind! Eat that which is lawful and wholesome in the earth, and follow not the footsteps of the devil. Lo! he is an open enemy for you” (al-Baqara 168).

Sticking to the Book of Allah and his sunnah in one’s words and actions will rebuke Satan and will greatly infuriate him. It is recorded in Sahih Muslim, Musnad Ahmad and Sunan Ibn Majah on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said,

When the son of Adam reads a verse of prostration and then prostrates, Satan departs from him and cries, saying, ‘Woe to me. The son of Adam was ordered to prostrate and he did so and, therefore, he will be granted paradise. I was ordered to prostrate and disobeyed and, therefore, I will get the hell-fire.

The Believers, Awliyaa (Supporters) Of One Another

The Believers, Awliyaa (Supporters) Of One Another

The believers, men and women, are Awliyaa’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another; they enjoin (on the people) Al‑Ma‘roof (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al‑Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); they perform As-Salaah (Iqaamat-as-Salaah), and give the Zakaah, and obey Allaah and His Messenger. Allaah will have His Mercy on them. Surely, Allaah is All-Mighty, All-Wise
[al-Tawbah 9:71]

O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies (i.e. disbelievers and polytheists) as friends, showing affection towards them, while they have disbelieved in what has come to you of the truth (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, this Qur’aan, and Muhammad), and have driven out the Messenger (Muhammad) and yourselves (from your homeland) because you believe in Allaah your Lord! If you have come forth to strive in My Cause and to seek My Good Pleasure, (then take not these disbelievers and polytheists, as your friends). You show friendship to them in secret, while I am All‑Aware of what you conceal and what you reveal. And whosoever of you (Muslims) does that, then indeed he has gone (far) astray from the Straight Path.
[al-Mumtahanah 60:1]

You (O Muhammad) will not find any people who believe in Allaah and the Last Day, making friendship with those who oppose Allaah and His Messenger (Muhammad), even though they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred (people). For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with Rooh (proofs, light and true guidance) from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein (forever). Allaah is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the party of Allaah. Verily, it is the party of Allaah that will be the successful.
[al-Mujaadilah 58:22]

O you who believe! Take not for Awliyaa’ (protectors or helpers or friends) disbelievers instead of believers. Do you wish to offer Allaah a manifest proof against yourselves?
[al-Nisa’ 4:144]

O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as Awliyaa’ (friends, protectors, helpers), they are but Awliyaa’ of each other. And if any amongst you takes them (as Awliyaa’), then surely, he is one of them. Verily, Allaah guides not those people who are the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers and unjust)
[al-Maa’idah 5:51]

O you who believe! Take not as (your) Bitaanah (advisors, consultants, protectors, helpers, friends) those outside your religion (pagans, Jews, Christians, and hypocrites) since they will not fail to do their best to corrupt you. They desire to harm you severely. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse. Indeed We have made plain to you the Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses) if you understand
[Aal ‘Imraan 3:118]
