‘Umar’s Respect To The Wives Of The Prophet (saw)

Posted in Inspirational Stories, Sisters Base with tags , , , , , , , , on October 15, 2014 by TheAuthenticBase

‘Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab was very protective of the Prophet’s wives. They were all very innocent and pious and yet, as ‘Umar certainly remembered, that did not stop the hypocrite ‘Abdullaah Ibn Ubay from slandering ‘Aa’ishah. Thus, ‘Umar would do everything in his power to safeguard the honour of the Prophet’s wives.

So when the Prophet’s wives asked ‘Umar to perform Hajj, he denied their request. Then, when they continued to implore him for permission, he met them halfway, saying to them: “I will grant you permission to go the following year, and yet even that is something I do not truly agree with.

The following year,’Umar sent ‘Uthmaan Ibn ‘Affaan and ‘Abdur-Rahmaan Ibn ‘Awf to accompany the Mothers of the believers during their pilgrimage. And ‘Umar gave both of them strict orders; one of them was to walk ahead of the Prophet’s wives, and the other was to walk behind them. They were not to allow anyone to walk alongside the Prophet’s wives. When they had to stop to set up camp, they were to set up camp in a mountain pass (an enclosed area); as long as the Prophet’s wives rested inside the mountain pass, they were to stand guard at the entrance of the mountain pass; they were to allow no one to enter upon the Prophet’s wives.

And when the Prophet’s wives performed Tawaaf around the Ka’bah, they were to forbid all men from performing Tawaaf at the same time.

Protecting Your Wives And Children, By Sh. Saalih As-Suhaymee

“They (the true believers) always supplicate to Allaah to rectify their wives and children:

And those who say, ‘Our Lord, bestow on us from our wives and offspring those who will be the comfort of our eyes’.

How will they be a comfort to the eyes? If they are obedient to Allaah and if you educate and cultivate them well, such that they are steadfast in the prayer and in doing good, when they use good speech and when they are regular in reading the Quraan because you taught them to be attached to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger (saw) You protected your wife and children from going with the people of desires and atheists and away form the deviated people who have doubts.

Your children will be a comfort for your eyes if you trained them upon the obedience to Allaah from their childhood and are good to them from a young age, for as you are to them, they will be to you!

From The Virtues Of Knowledge, Ibn ‘Uthaymeen

Posted in Knowledge with tags , , , , , , , , on April 22, 2011 by TheAuthenticBase

With reference to the important virtues of knowledge, Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen mentions:

“That he who has knowledge does not become tired in protecting it. This is because, if Allaah bestows knowledge upon you, then its place is in the heart and there is no need for containers or keys or the like.

It is protected in the heart and soul, and in time itself it is a protector for you, because it protects you from danger, with Allaah’s permission.

So knowledge protects you, whilst with property, you protect it by placing it in locked up containers, and despite all this, you still remain insecure about it.”

Protect You Honor, Dignity And Chastity… By Any Means Necessary

A man hosted some people from Hudhayl. They sent a slave woman to fetch some firewood, and the host was attracted to her, so he followed her and wanted to have his way with her, but she refused.

He wrestled with her for a while, then she escaped from him and threw a rock at him and killed him. Then she came to her masters and told them what had happened (loyalty!).

Her masters went to ‘Umar (who was the khaleefah at the time) and told him, and ‘Umar sent investigators who found their tracks.

‘Umar said, “No diyah (blood-money paid by the assassin) is to be paid for one who was killed by Allaah.

He regarded it as legitimate to have shed the blood of that aggressor, so there was to be no qisaas (retaliation) or diyah, and no expiation was to be offered.

10 Ways of Protection from Shaytan, Ibn Ul Qayyim Al Jawziyyah

10 Ways of Protection from Shaytan

Imam Ibn Ul Qayyim Al Jawziyyah

[Summarized from Bida’i` al-Fawa’id (304-308)]

1. Seeking refuge with Allah from Shaytan. Allah the Most High said, “And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.” [41:36]

2. Recitation of the two soorahs al-Falaq and an-Nas, as they have wondrous effect in seeking refuge with Allah from his evil, weakening Shaytan and protection from him. This is why the Messenger, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, said: “No person seeks refuge with anything like the Mu`awwidhatayn (soorahs al-Falaq and an-Nas)”. [an-Nasaa’i, 5337]

3. Recitation of Ayat al-Kursi (2:255).

4. Recitation of soorah al-Baqarah. The Messenger, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, said, “The house in which al-Baqarah is recited is not approached by Shaytan.” [Muslim]

5. The final part of al-Baqarah. The Messenger, sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam, said, “Whoever recites the two last verses of al-Baqarah at night they will suffice him.” [Muslim]

6. Recitation of the beginning of soorah Mu’min (Ghafir), until His saying, “wa ilayhi-l-maseer (to Him is the destination)”. (i.e. “Ha. Meem. The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Knowing, the forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination.” [40:1-2])

7. Saying “la ilaha ill Allah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa `ala kulli shay’in qadir” (there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah, He has no partner, His is the Dominion and Praise, and He is able to do all things) a hundred times.

8. The most beneficial form of protection from Shaytan: abundance of remembrance of Allah, the Exalted.

9. Ablution and prayer, and they are from among the greatest means of protection, especially at the time of emergence of anger and desire.

10. Abstinence from excess speech, food and mixing with people.

Is Islam Unjust To Women By Keeping Them Indoors!?

Is Islam Unjust To Women By Keeping Them Indoors!?

As for those that think Islam is unjust to women and that it has kept half of society idle and keeps the women folk “job-less” or any thought of that kind, then I present you this fatwa of Ibn Uthaymeen (r.a):

QUESTION: Some people started believing in what the media of the enemies try to spread, which is an intellectual planned invasion. Like when they say: “ Islam is unjust to women, Islam has kept women at their homes and thus kept half of the society unemployed”. What is your answer and comment on this lie?.

ANSWER: (By Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen (r.a))
Praise be to Allaah.

My comment on this is that these words can only come from one who is ignorant of sharee’ah, ignorant of Islam, ignorant of the rights of women, and is impressed by the attitudes and ways of the enemies of Allaah who are far away from the truth. Islam – praise be to Allaah – did not take away women’s rights, but Islam is the religion of wisdom which gives everyone his or her rightful status. Women’s work is in the home, and her staying athome is for the purpose of looking after her husband, raising her children, taking care the household affairs, and doing work that is suited to her.

The man has his own work to do, which is usually earning a living and benefiting the ummah. When she stays at home to look after him and her children, and the interests of her children, that is the work that is suited to her. It is also a protection for her, as it keeps her far away from immorality which may occur if she goes out and works with men. It is well known that when women work with men that also adversely affects the man’s work, because the man has a natural inclination towards women. If he works with her he will be distracted by this woman, especially if she is young and beautiful. He will forget his work and if he does it, he will not do it properly. The one who studies the situation of the Muslims at the beginning of Islam will see how they protected their womenfolk and how they did their work in the best manner. [End quote].

Although this fatwa is with regards to women working, it still fits in line with the free-mixing issue I’m referring to and not having protective jealousy over your women folk.
