Studying in The West

Posted in Brothers Base, Killing The Fitna, Sisters Base with tags , , , , , , , , , , on June 4, 2014 by TheAuthenticBase

Shaykh ‘Abdullaah ‘Azzaam said:

“I declare it forbidden for the youth to study in the West, except if they are married. Hear it from me; it is forbidden for a youth to study in the west, unless he is married. Relay on my behalf, even if it is one fatwa: it is not allowed, not allowed, not allowed. How can one protect himself? It is impossible to protect oneself, except through marriage.

It is impossible, impossible, impossible for the unmarried person to live there, unless he is abnormal. If he is abnormal, then he might be able to live there. As for the normal human being, then how my brother? Sex is available like water, and it is allowed, according to the law, in the street, everywhere!”

A Not-So-Smart Orientalists

When a certain amount of research finally yields a theory, academia dictates that this theory must face rigorous testing. If it fails then it must be either modified and retested, or abandoned altogether.

But studies of Islaam [done by non-Muslims] are unfortunately littered with ill-conceived theories that have ascended to the point of almost becoming hard facts, even when they fail on several counts.

[For example] Professor Wensinck comments on the famous hadeeth regarding the five pillars of Islaam:

“Islaam has been built on five pillars: testifying there is no god but Allaah, performing the prayers, paying the zakaah, fasting Ramadhaan, and making the pilgrimage to the House (Ka’bah).” [Saheeh Muslim]

He views this as spurious since it contains the kaimah shahaadah (bearing testimony that there is no god but Allaah). According to his view, the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad introduced the kalimah only after coming across some Christians in Syria who employed a declaration of faith, this thieving this idea from the Christians to develop one of the core pillars of Islaam.

Confronted with the problem that the kalimah shahaadah is also part of the tashahhud in the daily prayers, Wensinck put forward another theory instead of modifying his earlier one: the prayer was standardised after the Prophet’s death [see Wensinck, Muslim Creed, p. 19-32].

Perhaps a further theory is required, since Wensinck has not explained the existence of the kalimah in the adhaan and the iqaamah, nor when these two were introduced into Islaam.

Is it Permissible For a Father To Prevent His Daughter From Marriage For The Purpose of Completing Her Studies?

Posted in Marriage, Miscellaneous, Parenting, Sisters Base with tags , , , , , , , , on July 21, 2010 by TheAuthenticBase

Shaykh Abdullaah bin Abdul Rahman Al-Ghudayaan

[Presented and Translated by Mustafa George DeBerry]

Question: Is it permissible for a father to prevent his daughter from marriage for the purpose of completing her studies?

Answer: The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “If a person approaches you who is upright in his religion and possess good character, then marry him(to your daughter or the likes). If you don’t, there will be much corruption and evil throughout the Earth.”

Therefore, if a man approaches, and he has good religion and good character, if he is trustworthy etc, it is not permissible for the father to prevent the marriage from taking place. It is possible that the father makes an agreement with the man who is marrying his daughter, that she completes her studies. This is because there is no doubt that in completing her studies is a benefit for the husband, the children, whether they are males or females, in the future, as well as benefit for the female and the Muslims as a whole. If this female completes her studies, she can teach and benefit the Muslims in the future. I don’t think if the man has good character and religion, that he would want to prevent his wife from completing her studies.

The Praise Of Shaykh Rabia’ Al-Madhkhalee For The Muhadith, The ‘Allaama, Shaykh Of Hadeeth, Muhammad Nasr ud-Deen al-Albaani

The Praise Of Shaykh Rabia’ Al-Madhkhalee For The Muhadith, The ‘Allaama, Shaykh Of Hadeeth, Muhammad Nasr ud-Deen al-Albaani

Translated by: Abbas Abu Yahya

Questioner: Is Shaykh al-Albaani at the head of the ahl-ul-Hadeeth of this time?

The Answer of the ‘Allaama al-Muhadith Rabia’ bin Hadi ‘Umair al-Madhkhalee HafidhAllaah, and May Allaah raise his grade in both worlds, was:

‘I swear by Allaah that this is what Shaykh Ibn Baaz and Ibn ‘Uthaymeen submit to, as do the other scholars who have spent time in his company. They submit to the fact that there is none that can be compared with him in hadeeth, never can any one be compared with him, actually, for many centuries no one has reached to where Shaykh al-Albaani has reached.

I hold the opinion, that in study of books, neither Ibn Taymeeyah, nor Ibn Hajr reached him in the study of books. As for memorization, then they memorized more than him, but as for study and research and working extremely hard in research then there is none in comparison to him.

He has offered a library for Islaam. The Islaamic Countries and their institutions fall short in offering this amount. Anyone who now writes about hadeeth has to refer back to this man.

This man was oppressed, and the Arabs never knew his reality. Allaah took this man from the heart of Europe and placed him in the Dhahireeyah library, the best library in the east, where he spent sixty years, and he put forward this great work. What did he get in return from us?

With sadness, the virtue of a people is only known by those who posses it. As for the scholars, they knew his virtue and they acknowledged that, such as the likes of Ibn Baaz, Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, and the scholars of Islaam other than them. The scholars of India and Pakistan and the Western Arab Regions and of other places knew the status of this man, from what he placed forward for this Ummah, in ‘Aqeedah, Manhaj and the service to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah – alayhi as-Salaat wa Salaam -, may Allaah have mercy on him, and reward him with goodness for the Deen of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Prophet – alayhi as-Salaat wa Salaam -, the reward for those who do good actions, and for those who gave a service to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah and His Deen. Naaam!
