Requirements For Admission Updated 1425-8-11

To be considered for admission at Umm al-Qura University, applicants should be 25 years old or younger with a high school diploma and generally good grades (80% or higher). Their application must include photographs, copies of passport, birth and health certificates, high school transcripts and a copy of the diploma, all verified by the Saudi Embassy of their country. Also – letters of recommendation from known Islamic organizations or personalities, a 75-word essay about their goals for studying Arabic, and female applicants must present proof of a male family member currently living in Makkah, if they are not applying along with their spouse or brother.

New Condition: All applicants to Umm al-Qura University’s Arabic Program must first be approved by their own country’s “Ministry of Education”. Enquiries about this should be directed to the Saudi Embassy of the applicant’s country. Applications are no longer being accepted at the university itself in Makkah. All applicants must apply through the Saudi Embassy in their country. Additionally, further conditions may apply as stipulated by the Saudi Embassy in the applicant’s country. So for the most accurate and up-to-date information about what is required for one’s application, applicants should contact the nearest Saudi Embassy in their country.

Update: It seems most applicants from many countries are being exempted from this, at least for the submission of the application. Applications are being submitted once again at the university for all countries. [1427-01-02]

Estimated Costs And Living Expenses

Tuition is free. The school provides the students with a monthly salary of SR 840 (about $225), a round-trip plane ticket yearly, discounted meals, and free housing (for single students only). A single student should bring at least $500 initially to cover expenses until the salary starts to come (it takes a few months usually). After that, the monthly salary is sufficient for single students living in the dormitory. Married students who have children should bring much more money initially and expect their living expenses to be $6,000 to $12,000 yearly, depending on their standard of living, number of children, etc.

Tips From Former Or Current Students

“The school reviews applications in the winter between semesters. Usually the selected students would begin their studies in the Spring semester of the following year. They usually can only accept two or three new American and British students each year, so don’t depend greatly on being accepted. What I mean is – Submit your application and continue on with your life.”

what if someone is over 25 yrs old?? Will they not consider even if it is someone who is very enthusiastic and extremely willing, with determination and zeal to study the deen??

    • Assalaam o alaykum wa rahmat-Ullaahi wa barakaatuh,

To be considered for admission at Umm al-Qura University, applicants should be 25 years old or younger.

However, exceptions may be considered. Please read the question and answer below:

QUESTION #1: I’m over 25 years old. Is it possible for me to be accepted?

ANSWER #1: For those under 30, It is still possible in shaa’ Allaah, however not meeting one or more of the conditions of acceptance, like age, makes it very unlikely that you would be accepted. For those over 30, it is highly unlikely that you would be accepted without connections in the university. However, it would not hurt to submit your application even if you do not meet some of the conditions.

Statistically, older students do not stay – they have family members to look after, businesses, positions in communities, health problems, and it is difficult to return to the classroom atmosphere after being away from it for so many years. Our brothers in the administration have a budget to look after and they are responsible for their decisions. You yourself would probably set an age limit if you worked in the same position and Allaah knows best. By no means are they saying those over 30 are not fit to study Islaam, rather they are simply making decisions about who receives their scholarships.

  5. Salam, Im a university student in Canada, and im 20 years old.
I want to apply to Umm Al Qura university but doing a 2 year intensive program in Arabic1? is that really important, I mean we are here to focus on Islamic studies so why do we have to focus on Arabic? Please explain.

Secondly, Im doing an english Quran course here in Canada by Al huda institute, and i would love to learn at a Medinah or Makkah University.
However Im guessing all the cirriculum is built for Arabs which makes it really hard for converts or of other races to apply, also considering the fact
we will be learning ONLY arabic for 2 years with no islamic knowlegde,
i think its a bit unfair.. and puts the other races to a disadvantage.

Anyways, Please do correct me if im wrong or maybe i lack the understanding to know why is Arabic so heavily emphasized.

However, if the program teaches Quran and Arabic then I have no problem.

    Wa salam

    • Walykom Assalam,

As i was searching about Umm Al-Quran university i found your post, so i decided to answer it. Excuse me, i’m not an english native speaker but i will try to clarify as much as i can. Why non-arab speaker will have to take arabic intensive course?

      1. All the cirriculum is taught in plain Arabic, so if you don’t know arabic, you won’t be able to carry on.

      2. I think they teach an arabic in the islamic perspective, not just a general arabic. In other words, the islamic formal academic arabic which
helps you understand the quran very well.

      3. Quran is in Arabic so the best way to learn Quran and gets the ins and outs in your studies is to learn it in Arabic.

      4. Arabic is very sensitive language, a vowl would change the whole meaning inside out which eventually will lead to make wrong analysis that doesn’t meet the correct teachings of Islam.

      5. Even an arabic native speaker has to take Arabic courses (Advanced/intermediate level). The arabic we speak nowadays is totally informal and doesn’t help us when it comes to learning Islam. So students must go through formal Arabic. Just like there in the west, when you take College/University English even though you are a native speaker.

      6. Finally visit this youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/MAKEEN104

This brother teaches arabic from the very basic level to advanced. The link will help you surely… He teaches at the academic level very well.

      I hope this helps.

      asalamualaykum warahmatullahi wabarkatuh

sister nadia, the equivilant of what you are saying is like the the immigrant korean student who

wants to study journalism at U of T. but when told they will have to take english courses at a college for about a year and a half they are dissapointed. ALo umm al qura is an islamic university, thus it is geared towards higher islamic education graduates move on towards becoming imams, authors or duat.

      hayakallah

also Arabic is the language of quran and the hadith of Muhammad saw. thus it is imparitive to be learnt before proceeding to other sciences.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

      In response to your statement:

“we are here to focus on Islamic studies so why do we have to focus on Arabic? Please explain.”

Arabic (no doubt) is the key to knowledge, ANYONE who has ‘studied’ Islaam through books in english (or any other language other than Arabic) knows nothing of true knowledge. No matter how many books one reads in english, it is NOTHING compared to the knowledge contained in Arabic books.

Also, the teachers in Saudi only teach in Arabic…

      Hope this has answered it…

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum

      • sinthia khan Says:

        Assalamu alaikum,
I understand that learning arabic is a must to know quraan and hadith authentically, but i didn’t get the point that the teachers in Saudi only teach in Arabic. I mean, even in two years of language program, at maximum you can learn the basics of the language to just understand quaraan and hadith which is good, but I guess that is not enough to understand and study the matters of medicines, engineering, pharmacy! it is next to impossible to study other subjects other than quraan and hadith in a totally new language in which you had no idea before the past two years. I mean English is an international language so more or less every country is familiar with it unlike arabic. so when it’s time to learn english, it’s possible to get to know it since it’s easy, but similarly i guess arabic has also its own grammer and literature, so how it’s possible for a person to study with this language on tough subjects like medicine or pharmacy! please do not misunderstand it, I’m just a bit nervous and panicking about the face that they do not teach anything other than arabic! please kindly answer my question for the sake of Allah.

    • Contact me…i have more info about Umm Al Qurah University..

    • Contact me..i have more info about this university..

    • Nadia, I understand where you’re coming from but I must say that I completely disagree with you. And no, it is not unfair for the studies to be taught in Arabic. First of all, you must understand the IMPORTANCE of learning Arabic as Muslims. The Qur’an was revealed in Arabic, nit English or any other languages. When we read the translation of the meaning of the Qur’an, we only read the understanding of someone who learned Arabic and was able to translate the meaning of the Qur’an. Why shouldn’t we be ambitious enough to read it DIRECTLY from the source? The same is the case for the early manuscriptts of ahadith and books of scholars which were all in Arabic. We only read them in our languages because someone else made the effort to learn Arabic and grt the books directly from the source. Deep knowledge from the source can only be attained when Arabic (classical or fus-ha, not dialects) is learned. By all means, it does NOT mean that a person is not a good Muslim if he/she doesn’t sleep Arabic. Here we’re talking about gaining knowledge, not stopping at being a worshiper with minimal knowledge (though such a person can still be way better in the sight of Allah based on actions and intentions).

Also, in what language do you expect the teachers there to teach? English? The whole world doesn’t speak English and why should people be forced to speak english when it has no direct connection to Islam or the Qur’an? The teachers can’t teach everyone in their individual languages. When people come to the west, they are expected to speak English, so why should a Muslim who (hopefully) wants to understand the Qur’an not speak Arabic when he/she goes all the way to an Arabic speaking country to learn Islam while the Qur’an is in Arabic?

Why should we limit ourselves to translated books when we can go right to the source? I don’t know about you, but most Muslims I have met would love to understand the Qur’an directly when they hear it without having to reply on translations. That’s the true spirit of seeking knowledge.

Many people spend years learning different languages (especially English these days sadly), but they wouldn’t spend as much tine and effort to learn the language of the Qur’an. Even in the Arab world, English teachers from the west are paid thousands of dollars plus free accommodation + health benefits and other packages simply to teach English. Those teachers wouldn’t dream to make that much money in their own countries. On top of that, they are not required or do not feel the need to learn Arabic while living in the Arabic countries because most people seem to rather force themselves to speak in Emglish to them instead. I find that very unfair. As a result, a place like the UAE is slowly turning into an English speaking country!
As far as I know, when people of other countries go to the west for university, they first take the ESL or TESOL intensive English program in order to speak English before taking university courses. The professors are not obliged to learn their languages in order to teach them. And that’s very fair.

Whether or not a person is a “revert/convert” or “born Muslim”, it doesn’t change the fact that he/she SHOULD learn Arabic in order to seek knowledge. Seeking knowledge os a decision they made, so they must abide by the rules if their intentions are clear.

      And Allah knows best.

      • Let me just add that this offer of free scholarship to learn Arabic is rather a blessing amd no one is forced to apply. It is free money offered to those who would lije to learn Arabic in order to take the obstacles of seeking deeper Islamic knowledge away. Many people are fighting to get it. It’s simply an offer to those who seek it. And many people would gladly take it and say jazak Allahu khayr for such wonderful offer.

        Alhamdulillah.

  6. Ifrah Muhammud Says:

    asalamualaykum warahmatullahi wabarkatuh

Uh what if you already know Arabic would i just go straight to my BA?
And also what’s the youngest they would accept perhaps if i am 17?

    • Wa ‘alaykum assalaam wa rahmat-Ullaahi wa barakaatuh,

If you already know Arabic then you would go straight to the 4 year Islamic course…

17 is a very good age to be applying in. A bro I know got accepted into Madeenah Uni last Ramadhaan and he was, I believe, 17.

A benefit of applying at this age is that if one does not get accepted first time round, then he/she can apply again for the next year, and if he/she doesn’t get accepted again, he/she can apply again (some people have gotten accepted on their third time applying).

Whereas if a person applies when he/she is 25 (for example) and doesn’t get accepted then applying again will not be of much benefit as now this person has hit the maximum age limit…

      I hope this has helped.

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  7. Abdul Raheem Says:

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu,

Two questions, brother, that I’ve been struggling with for a veeerrrrryyyy long time; 1) If I mailed my application in May 2009 and have not heard any response yet, should I apply again?; and 2) When do classes start this year? Is there still any chance I might be accepted for the upcoming semester?

JazaakAllahu khairan, wassalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu.

  8. Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatUllaahi wa barakaatuh,

A1) I personally would say apply again… I asked Abu Abdissalaam with regards to Saudi Unis and he said its best to apply like twice a year.

But your May 2009 app. would have reached them in June 2009 (which was super late for the Shawaal 1430 start). So that would have been put in the upcoming years pile (for acceptance for Shawaal 1431). However, even if you were to apply again (like right now) this new application would be considered for Shawaal 1432 (and would do no benefit for this years acceptance).

So the only chance you have for acceptance for Shawaal 1431 (this year) is that application you sent in May 2009.

Personally I would advice you apply again around ramadhaan time, which means getting all your documents together ASAP (as believe me; time flies), so don’t delay anything…

    A2) Classes start in Shawaal…

I hope this has answered your questions.

Keep me in ur du’aas bro,

    • Abdul Raheem Says:

      As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

Yes, jazaakAllahu khairan brother thank you, that does answer my questions.

May Allah reward you for (finally) bringing closure to a fellow brother’s pressing issue. I’ve been trying to find out what’s going for a loooonnnnggggg time, and I feel better now that you gave some background to the situation.

I’ll definitely make du’aa for you, for Abu Abdissalaam, this website, and your family, brother.

Wassalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu.

  9. Abdul Raheem Says:

As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu,

Brother, I would like to explain my situation a little further and ask your advice/opinion on the matter.

The short story is that when I went to NYC last year in May to the Saudi Consaulate to get my documents authenticated, the gentleman behind the desk told me I had to first send everything over to Saudia, they would authenticate it and send it back, then I could get everything verified at the Saudi embassy here in order to send it back again to Saudia to apply.

So basically I mailed my application without having any of my documents authenticated by the U.S. embassy, and also without a Letter of Permission from the government that I could study in Saudia.

–That– is the state in which they received my application. Everything else is in order, such as Letters of Recommendation, health certificate, pictures, personal letter, etc. but there are these two main issues. Also, I will be turning 26 years old this September.

I’ve tried contacting them with numerous e-mails, phone calls, I’ve discussed this with people at the Saudi Embassy here, just trying to find out if I need to send a new application or just the documents I’m missing. Alas, no answer brother.

I know this is maybe a little late in the game to be asking about this considering you said the classes start in Shawaal, but any advice or help or support you can give will be a source of receiving positive heart-felt du’aa at my behest.

JazaakAllaahu khairan brother, wassalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum akhee,

As for the Saudi embassy in America and getting a letter of permission from the States & authenticating docs from the the US embassy, then I have no information / knowledge with regards to these 3 issues. I think it wold be better if you can contact someone in the states who has applied (or is applying) with regards to this, as some things differ with applications sent from UK and the US, and these are some of those cases…

With regards to geting permission tho, I do remember going to the Saudi embassy here in the UK when I applied, and they told me it was not necessary when sending the documents, but only when one has been accepted. When one has ben accepted, THEN he needs to get a letter from the MP. But if it’s the same for the US or not, Allaahu ‘alam akhee.

Sorry bro, as I don’t think I have any info regarding your scenario, the whatever the case, the new students for acceptance would be sending in their applications within a month or so… So just resend everything as a new application… Also, its best to send something extra, rather than not send it (if that makes sense) Meaning; if your in doubt about sending a certain document, then send it along with the application as sending something (which may end up being an ‘extra’) causes no harm…

Sorry for the poor reply akhee, but I’m in the UK, so some stuff do differ. Maybe trying to get in touch with some brothers from the states would be helpful…

Sorry again for the weak reply bro.

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum,

      Akhook

      • Abdul Raheem Says:

        As salaamu alaykum Akhee,

No problem and jazaakAllah khair Brother, that’s cool. Everything will be ok insha’Allah (it’s according to Allah’s will, so how can it not be, right? :) ) and both of your responses helped a lot.

I’ll make du’aa for you Brother, just remember me too.

My friend called them last week and the secretary mentioned that they will be released after Hajj inshallah. This is strange but that is the information they have released. Also it is apparantly very dificult to be accepted there. make lots of dua and if you can find a contact who is close to the University then use there help.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Your uncle can hand it in to the admins desk at Umm Al-Qura… Apply when you are ready (taking into consideration that if u wish to get accepted for a certain year, this means you need to apply one year earlier than that year you wish to get accepted in)…

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum

    Asalamualaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

This is Umme-Khunais, my son was born in the United States. He is 5 years old, I am concern about his future. I was hoping to gain some information about the Saudi Universities, school, colleges, etc. If I were to get my son to be registered in the Islamic Learning Society of any kind regarding the Quran, Hadith, and Sunna, what would I have to do? Who should I contact and how? Please kindly someone answer my inquiry!

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

Ok, as for schools, then sorry, but I know little to nothing about them. Maybe someone else reading this comment can answer this query.

And sorry for the delayed response…

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum

  17. Asalamoaleikum,

I was wondering, I have 2 years left in high school so therefore I do not have a high school diploma and I am 16. Is it still possibly to apply?

    • Also, I am a United States Citizen and I live near Washington DC in
      Alexandria, Virginia

      Jazakallah!

      • Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

To be accepted one must have at least a high school diploma, as the Unu has stated:

“Applicants should be 25 years old or younger with a high school diploma and generally good grades (80% or higher)”

Seems you gotta get the high school diploma first…

Tho you can try ringing them and getting more information on:

        Phone / fax: (011 from U.S.) 966 2 556 2525

And sorry for the delayed response bro…

I hope this has answered your question…

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh,

28 seems like a big age as the age limit is 25 (tho they are considering to move it down to 23)…. But ppl are known to be over the age limit and still get in…

Based on that, still apply, as the uni itself has said this themselves…

      Sorry for the delayed response…

I hope this has answered your question…

Read the top article, read the info on the related links given, see if you fit the required conditions, if so, print the application and apply…

P.s I don’t have any link with the uni… So its not like you need my permission or anything (as I’m assuming that is what you think by reading your comment)…

  20. Assalamu aleikum.
I have submitted my application last winter.
When does Um Al Qura pubicizes the new accepted students for the coming spring semester? A hope you can give me a precise date.

    Barakallahu fika wa fi ahlik.

  21. Assalamo Alaikum,
Brother I have sumbitted my documents to the university in October 2009 for admission in Arabic Language Institute 2010-2011 Session.
When university is releasing the acceptance list. Please inform.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Abuzar

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

In all honesty bro, Allaahu ‘alam… The list should have been out in Ramadhaan time…

Sorry bro… Dunno was going on here…

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum,

      Akhookum

  22. Zubaidur Rahim Says:

    As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatULLAH,

I know alot of brothers have asked this before but since the acceptance list, as a brother mentioned, that, it will be released after Hajj? but when does the semester start, as in classes for the new session?..because i called them this feb/march and they said that the session starts from after Hajj…but if the acceptance list is coming out after Hajj then….well very confusing here isnt it heheh!?!

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatUllaahi wa barakaatuh,

in all honesty bro, Allaahu ‘alam. Over the past few months or so, I aint going that deep into these matters, as I got bare other stuff going on in my life which has kinda distracted me away from knowing more about Islamic Uni’s abroad and all the nitty gritty info regarding all these matters…

      Sorry bro. Allaahu ta’aala ‘alam

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Sorry I re-read your question again, it seems that the uni allows some time for students to come in (especially those who are having difficulty to get their visas etc).

Madeenah Uni does the same, they start at Shawaal, but allow bare time for students to come in…

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  23. Zubaidur Rahim Says:

    Jazak Allah khair.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

If you fit the criteria of acceptance, then alhumdulillaah all u need 2 do is apply… COmsidering you’re there in the Kingdom, the process should be easier for you in shaa Allaah…

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum

  25. Assalammualikum,

I was informed by one of the brothers that study in Umul Qura that I have got accepted alhamdullilah. So how long does it usually take for the Uni to send the Letter of Acceptance to America.

    Jzk,

    Abdullah

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Sorry… Try getting in touch with the uni itself and take it from there in shaa Allaah…

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Im so sorry bro, but I don;t quite understand ur question. So ur saying u know arabic? or u dont know Arabic?

If u know arabic, then u just go straight to the 4 year course..

If u dont knwo arabic, then u do the 2 year Arabic course…

All the teaching is done in Arabic…

Im sorry if i haven’t answered ur question; don’t quite get what ur exactly tryna ask…

      Do forgive me bro…

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum

  30. Please can someone post the acceptance list for the UK, 2010/2011 for umm al qura?

  31. Asalamu alaykum brother.

I was wondering if I could e-mail you my application and all the relevant documents and hopefully you could forward them to whom it may concern. Brother I know it’s last minute and if I send it by mail it’s going to take forever. May Allah forgive you and give you jannah. Please let me know what you think.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Akhee the uni only accepts app. forms by having them handed in, in the reception desk, they dont accept them via post. So unfortunately emailing them me will be of no benefit. If you know someone who is going to Saudi, u can hand it to them to hand in, or alternatively, if u know someone living in saudi, send it them, so they can hand it in… Other than that, Allaahu ‘alam.

Sorry if this has not been the answer u expected, but it is the best i can say in response…

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

      Akhookum

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Sorry akhee i got confused between ur comment and another one…

As for Umm Al-Qura, they DO accept application forms via post… Sorry..

Akhee, just mail it them… If u email htem me, im gonna end up mailing it to them, so there is no real benefit in emailing me your docs… (I’m not living in Saudi, if that is what u presume)…

Sorry for the mix up in the comments, as I thought u were refering to Imaam Muhammad Bin Saud Uni…

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum

      • Asalamu alaykum,

First of all thanks for the quick response brother.
Are you saying that Umm ul Qura uni accepts application and documents to be scanned and sent by e-mail, if yes, could you post the address. Jazakallahu khayr:)

        • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Sorry, by “mail” i meant to say postage mail… Sorry…

The address for postage is at the top of the page in the original post…

Make sure to write the arabic as well as the english on the envelope… Also u wud need about £8 or so for the cost. Expensive? I know! lol

          Wassalaamu ‘alaykum,

  33. Gulnaz begum Says:

    plz waiting for ur reply

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

A Mahram is one of the conditions…

If this is a problem, a sister can get her husband/bro to apply along with her, or even if u know one of ur mothers bro’s or fathers bros, is working there, that is also sufficient.

      Wassalamu ‘alaykum

      • Gulnaz begum Says:

s s alhamdulilah my bro is working in jeddha is it possible?? oo alhmadulilah thanks for considering my request
        and another doubt
there is free accomudation for sisters in university i hope???
may allah make it easy for me
        waitin for ur reply
        waassalaamualaykum

        • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

As for ur bro living in Jeddah, I believe this may not be considered by them, as the uni states that a woman should have a mahram in makkah.

However, even to get into the Kingdom, one would need a mahram with you, as that is the opinion the Kingdom takes.

As a side note: Some scholars, like Ibn Uthaymeen, say it is ok for a well behaved, God fearing pious woman to travel from a to b is she has mahrams in both places, and mahram a drops her off as far as possible and mahram b picks her up from as close as possible…

As for accommodation, I quote from the fatwa-online:

“If a sister is there with her husband and wishes to live with him, then they can do so at their own expenditure, which will obviously be away from the main batch of hostels. If she wishes to stay in the universities hostel (which may be the case if she is there with her brother) then accommodation is free.”

For more info, see this link:

          Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  34. Gulnaz begum Says:

waiting for reply inshaallah with sabbr

  35. Asalamu alaykum brother,

I sent all my documents to the uni last week, so hopefully insha allah it will reach them in january. A couple of questions brother.
    1. Is the uni close to the haram?
    2. Do they publish the acceptance list on the internet or do you have to wait for the acceptance letter in case you were accepted?

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

      1) As far as I remember, it was said that it was about 30mins distance form the haram, tho I can’t quite remember at this present time… Allaahu ‘alam.

      2) They post it online first, then send a letter out to all the accepted students, however the letter usually comes late for some… But as long as ur name is on the list online, a few phone calls to the uni should makes things easy in shaa Allaah…

I hope this answers your question.

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  36. 1) If she wishes to stay in the universities hostel (which may be the case if she is there with her brother) then accommodation is free.

    2) wat does this means??? is it like for myself and for my bro they will provide or only for me??

    3) my bro is working in saudi and staying in company’s room what they are providing for my bro

    4) in case if i wanted to stay in university hostel providing my bro will stay in his work place is it possible bro?????

  37. muhammad asadullah ansari Says:

    PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEE REPLY SOON

  38. @ Gulnaz begum.

    1) Accommodation is free, meaning you don’t pay for rent. You will be living there rent-free, no water/gas/electricity bills…

    2) If u and ur bro both stay in the uni hostel, then both will be getting free accommodation…

    3) If ur bro, however, is not staying with the uni, then they will not provide facilities for his accommodation if he does not want it…

    4) Yes it is possible…

  39. @ muhammad asadullah ansari,

    Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

    1) Yes as all the learning is done in Arabic.

    2) Sorry bro, I don’t understand this question. the uni has a 2 year arabic course, and then a four year course in one of the islamic sciences…

    3) Yes…

    4) Yes, and thank (Allaah then) King … whatever his name is… lol

I hope this has answered your questions.

    Wassalaamu ‘alaykum

  40. mohammad asadullah ansari Says:

assaalualyqum brother thak u for ur reply but i did not get a clear cut image about it so if u do not mind will u please clarify again for me

1.is the university providing free accomodation and monthly stipend for 2+7 years
    {as per my further studies}

    2. is the teaching in college of medicine is in arabic

  41. @ muhammad asadullah ansari,

    Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

    1) The uni provides stipends for the total duration of ur stay. However I don’t quite understand where you got 2+7 from?

The Arabic course is for 2 years, and the Islamic course is for 4 years, thus making it a total of 6 years. For those who wish to do masters, then there is a further 3 years for that. And for that, again, there is free accommodation.

    2) Bro, they teach Islamic studies, if you wish to study Medicine, then suffice yourself with where u r in shaa Allaah. The uni does have other faculties, but Allaahu ‘alam about the details of those departments… Sorry, I thought u were talking about going there to study the deen…

I hope this has answered ur qstn in shaa Allaah…

  42. Essalamou Aleikom,

Brother dou you know if the list of accepted students for 2010/2011 is now available in umm al qura univ ?
    Baraka allahou fika

  43. Asalamualaikum
    i’m an a-level student from the u.k
i will be completing my education in july/august insha’Allah and i am really hoping to get into this university
Would you know what grades i would have too attain to be considered?
i am a female and i have an uncle (mothers’ bro) living in Makkah, would that be sufficient or would my brother have to be applying with me?

  44. @ Tarek;

    Assalaamu ‘alaytukm,

Allaahu ‘alam whats happening with the list bro… I guess if you have recieved the acceptance letter, than thats a sign,. if not, then one can assume they have not been accepted for the year 2010/2011…

    Wassalaamu ‘alaykum

  45. @ Sana;

    Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

    1) The Uni wishes to see at least ‘B’ grades in ones GCSE’s. They’re not really that bothered about ones College or Uni grades. So as long as ones GCSE’s are good (around the ‘B’ grade mark) then thats sufficient…

    2) Yes ur mothers bro is sufficient for you.

Below r a few points for ur benefit in shaa Allaah:

    (a) Before anything, speak to ur uncle and let him know what you wish to do, as you would need to know if he has any other plans (of going out of the Kingdom etc.)

    (b) Collect, translate and do everything now. Now, as in, like right now. Get started from now to gather all ur docs. Getting a doctors letter, for example is the longest. I had to go like 5/6 times to my doc to finally get my letter. Likewise a bro I know, currently in Madeenah, also went like 5/6 times. It may seem easy and quick, but don’t delay anything. A quick tip; write down everything u would need to do, that way, while ur waiting for such and such letter to be translated, u can go get ur passport pics, etc.

    (c) It would be best to send ur app. form, completed and everything to ur uncle, and allow him to drop it in. That way, he can also explain how he is ur mahram and everything. IF POSSIBLE (and this is always recommended, as it shows dedication) go and hand it in, inperson (along with ur uncle).

    (d) Type out ur docs that you translate rather than writing them by hand, as this shows a good presentation. Small things like this do make everything go better/smoother.

    (e) If ur in doubt as to whether or not to send a certain document along with your app. form, send it anyway, as having something extra is better than a missing required document.

    (f) … I guess thats all the advice coming in my mind for now…

I hope this has answered ur questions…

    Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  46. Salaam Alaykum,

where can I find the acceptance list for umm al qura university?

    JazakAllah Khair

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Allaahu ‘alam, I cant seem to find anything with regards to the acceptance list for this semester. We assume that everyone who was accepted just got a letter sent to them via post. If one applied yet did not get a letter through the post, assume that your app. form has been set aside for the coming year…

  47. Ibn Islam Says:

    salam alaikum Akhi,

I enrolled in summer 2009 at Umm Al Qura. I was told I’ve accepted for sept. 2010 but than at 2010 they told me that the new students (i.e. those who are supposed to start in SEPT. 2010) can’t start yet because the University is facing problems with accomodation. Anyway they told me I/the new students will start in Rabi3 Al Awwal (Febr. 2011) which is soon. So I called up (the number you are provoding is working, but not on thursdays and fridays and only between 7am-10am UK time) and I asked again.

AM I REALLY among the accepted students. They checked the list and affirmed and told me yes you are, but we still face problems with accomodation for the new students. However the I don’t know how to put it, but they were not really friendly and didn’t give me a chance to ask more. So brother I’ve a request to you brkallahu fik, do you know ANYONE in Umm Al Qura, any students, or a friend who knows a student so they can go directly and ask WHEN the new students will start and if I will start in february etc. (I could give you my fullname so you can pass it).

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

      1) As for the Saudi’s not being friendly, then expect more of this when you get there, seriously. Wait until you go through offices etc.

      2) The people you spoke to over the phone or via email have poor english, so this also needs to be taken into consideration when trying to get through to them. two years ago, when I emailed and asked for the accepted list, they replied saying, ‘Yes the list is out, I hope u are accepted.” So their english is generally poor.

      3) As for me knowing someone in Makkah, then I’m sorry I do not know of anyone. i know a few bro’s in Madeenah uni, and inshaaAllaah I’ll try getting in touch with them to see if they know anyone in Umm Al-Qura.

Tho akhee, u gotta realise that the bro’s I know in Madeenah uni, are obviously students, so Allaahu ‘alam how often they check their inbox and stuff. Please keep this in mind, as the reply from them may come late. JazaakAllaah.

For the meantime, don’t give up with your calls/emails, tho don’t be too constant, such they u start to ‘nag’ them.

Sorry for the late response bro.

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

      Akhookum.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Sorry akhee, looks like i cant get contact of anyone in Umm Al-Qura, or even Makkah.

The bro’s I know in madeenah don’t kno and there is one guy who’s a friend’s friend living in Makkah, but again, hard to get through to him…

      Sorry bro…

Try getting in touch with the bro at

      http://soyouwanttobeastudent.wordpress.com

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  48. Assalaamualykum bro jazakallahukhair for everything,
i want to know inshallah, my mom will stay alone here if i go to saudi inshallah after admission, is it any way possible that i can keep my mom with me in hostel where i will stay inshallah, as nobody will ba with her as my bro also staying in saudi

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Generally speaking, the accommodation is only for students. As for visas, the Kingdom restricts the duration a person can stay in the country, tho this restriction is excluded for students. As for your mother, Allaahu ‘alam what her situation would be. I kinda doubt the Kingdom would give an exception for a students mother, but even if they do, she will not be able to stay in your hostel with you, as the hostel is for students only.

Its a tight situation. If you have any other brother/sister, it would be best for them to take care of your mother. Do istikhaara and plenty of du’aa in shaa Allaah…

I hope this has answered ur qstn.

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  49. Gulnaz begum Says:

inshallah anyways jaza khair for reply

  50. Assalam o Alaikum,

brother,i want take admission in ummul qura university.I have few questions and i hope that you reply in my email that i give above.
1-What is the admission and last date of submission of registration?
2-What is the best criteria for sending application forum? Will it be better to post or email to ummul qura?
    3-what is requirement of application?
I hope that you will reply of my questions.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

      1) It goes on all year round, but usually anything they get after muharram/saffar time, is extended to the next year…

      2) The best thing is to go there and give it in by hand…

      3) Requirements r mentioned in the article above, not a lot, between 17-25 is the main one…

      Sorry for the late reply.

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum

  51. assalam u alequm i want to ask you that what is the last date of admission jazak u mullah

  52. Assalam O ALaikum,

  53. jazak Allah brother.i find Answer but what is the next door for me if i dont go there to submit form cz i have no resources.

  54. usmanramza Says:

    pleas reply me jazaku mullah

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

the age limit was 25 but they moved it down to 23 due to the large number of applications they were receiving.

But still even if one is around 25 still apply, as there are exceptions to te rule…

I hope this has answered ur question.

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  55. what can i do if i’m living in DRC and i want to arrive there to study?

  56. asslamoalikum

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

      1) If you already know Arabic, then yes, you will be taken straight to the 4 year islamic course of your choice.

      2) The procedure is the same at this level.

I hope this has answered ur question.

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  57. Ummthalaatha Says:

As Salaamu Alaikum are you able to check for names that were accepted for 2010/2011 academic year if so please email me personally I want to know if by husband was accepted to Umm Al Qura

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Im sorry but I cannot get a hold of the list. The uni has started its semester in Feb/Mar instead of Sep/Oct, therefore the whole procedure and stuff is new. As far as I am aware, they didn’t even publish the list on their website…

If your husband was accepted he will get a letter of acceptance through the post…

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum

  58. MUHAMMAD SYUHAIMI BIN KHALIT Says:

    Dear Sir!

My name is Muhammad Syuhaimi bin Khalit. I am now 24 years old and will finish my Diploma in Muamalat (Malaysia University) on September 2011. I am looking forward to continue my study in umm AL-Qura University.

I am really interested to study in Institute of Arabic language for Non-Native Speakers…. and if I can get through in good grade I want to further my study for my degree level in Umm Al- Qura University.

But according to the application form, the age should not exceed 23 years. So is there any chance that I can study in Umm AL- University?… Please asist me.

    Thank you.

    Yours sincerely

    MUHAMMAD SYUHAIMI BIN KHALIT

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Go forward and apply and leave ur acceptance to the qadr of Allaah. Some people age way over 25 and still get accepted. So its all in Allaah’s Hands.

      Wassalamu ‘alaykum

  59. Baraa Al Irlandee Says:

    dear brother, you have said:

“Im sorry but I cannot get a hold of the list. The uni has started its semester in Feb/Mar instead of Sep/Oct, therefore the whole procedure and stuff is new. As far as I am aware, they didn’t even publish the list on their website…”

Are you SURE that the uni has already started? I’ve called them 1 month ago. They indeed did not released any acceptance list yet they read down the list and confirmed that I personally am amongst the accepted students. But sadly until NOW I haven’t received ANYTHING from them whatsover.

Please brother, tell me do you have any information regarding the start of THIS semester? did they really start? do you know someone down there? did they confirm it? IF SO can you contact me to them, so they can check why I (though BEING AMONG THE ACCEPTED ONES) haven’t received ANYTHING whatsoever!.

It is very urgent brother may Allah reward you.

    salam alaikum

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

It seems that the best thing for you to do would be to keep phoning the Uni every now and then, as this year they seemed to have changed their whole process and stuff. So I myself am a little confused as to what they are doing…

If you scroll up, you will notice a comment by brother Ibn Islam. Reply to him and inshaaAlaah the both of you (as you both seem to be amongst the accepted students) can help one another out.

Reply to his comment, and take it from there inshaaAllaah.

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  60. IseekIlm Says:

    salam alaikum

I’ve called them few days ago and ALL those who are waiting should do and expect the following:

1-You should CALL UP the following number: 009662 5562525
The number DOES work BUT I figured out that you have to call between 6-8AM UK TIME! try hard, even a couple of days. Keep in mind that they DO NOT know arabic so if YOU dont know arabic ask a brother to call for you.

You should be firm, cause they are annoyed of calls, just say politely but firmly that you just wanted to know IF you are amongst the accepted students. THEY DO HAVE a list, since I did exactly what I am advising you in this very moment. IF you are accepted then KNOW he will read down your name from the list. (Umm Al Qura does not give out lists, neither do they put it on the Internet site, but they’ve got it in their office)

So this is EXACTLY what you have to do.

    2. What you have to expect.

KEEP in mind, that I MYSELF applied in SUMMER 2009, I received the good news (from a friend who was in Makka NOT BY LETTER) in SUMMER 2010 just at the end of Ramadan that I AM AMONGST the accepted ones. YET they have told me ALREADY at that very time, that NORMALLY (just like madinah and riyadh) my studies at UMM al QURA should have started AFTER Ramadhan 2010 (i.e. slightly after I received the good news) yet they have accom. i.e. housing problems, so they said exceptionally all THOSE WHO APPLIED IN 2009 are not going to start in SUMMER 2010 BUT in Febr. 2011 (Rabi3 Al Awwal).

I know, we almost past Rabi3 Al Awwal…

The thing is (they’ve told me FEW days ago ON FONE) that the housing problem is still NOT solved! But they promised to sort it out in the next two months (i.e. in may). KEEP in mind, I am an accepted student and should have started in 2010 SUMMER, then (due to them ahving problems) in 2011 FEBR. so THIS IS REGARDING those who applied in 2009. If you have applied in 2010 you might be considered for 2012! (since they have to give the rooms to the students of the list of 2009 who are still not in makka i.e. me and my likes)

Anyhow all those who are awaiting should try to call them, it’s worth it.

I hope I could help out, and may Allah open doors of Umm Al Qura for all those who sincerely seek the pleasure of Allah.

    wassalam alaikum

  61. IseekIlm Says:

    correction:

“Keep in mind that they DO NOT know arabic”

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Print out the app. form (link provided in main post), gather all required docs, and send it to the uni (address also provided). I don’t do nothing with regards to visas. Please refer to the Saudi embassy in your country for info on visas etc.

  63. Asalamualaikum
I just wanted to ask if women can apply even if her mahram is not applying with her and is residing in Makkah?
The latest application form (2009) says the mahram must be at the university or an applicant?
I have an uncle in Makkah, but i am not sure as to whether i would be considered if i do not have a mahram applying with me

    • Wassalaamu ‘alaykum,

A mahram in Makkah is sufficient. Fill out the app. and send it to your uncle in Makkah and let him hand it in for you and state he is ur mahram residing in Makkah etc.

I hope this has answered ur question.

      Wassalaamu ‘alaykum.

  67. Salaam,

I live in the UK. If your highest level of qualifications is As levels. Is it alright to apply for the 2 yr arabic course? or do you need higher level of qualifications? And is the arabic 2 yr course suitable for people that don’t even know the basics of arabic?

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

A level is good, tho all the uni really considers is your GCSE’s.

Yes the 2 year Arabic course IS for those who don’t know Arabic. In the two years you would be (inshaaAllaah) fluent in speaking and understanding Arabic.

  68. kobuljon Says:

I had a lots of questions, but now, after i had road your answers I don’t have any.. But only one :D

Hmm.. In Umm al-qura university, which type of mezhepare they following? Salafi, wahabi, hanefi, safi, maliki, hanbeli, shia etc…?
More specifik in the insitute of non-native arabic speackers.

Jazak Allahu khairan agin inshaAllah, hafizAllah
    Wesselam

    • Wassalaamu ‘alaykum,

      They teach pure Salafiyyah…

The non-arabic speakers are taught how to speak Arabic for two years then are forwarded into the classes for the next four years.

  71. Aaisha Humaira Says:

    Assalamu Alaikum brother
When will Ummul Qura University start for this year?

  72. IseekIlm Says:

    salam alaikum,

I’d just like to inform the admin and those who want to know WHEN the studies start for THIS year. As you know, those NEW STUDENTS who have been accepted for the year 2010 (i.e. those who applied in 2009). Could not have started AFTER Ramadhan 2010, since the university had some accomodation problems. The ACCEPTED students were told (not by letter, only if they themselves CALLED UP) that they should wait till FEB. 2011. Well, even by then the problem wasn’t sorted, but, finally I received the final good news (I even talked to them myself) that the problem is sorted and the students can start after Ramadhan (i.e. for the new term).

Hence, all those who should have started in later summer 2010 will start in the new term 2011 which is in shawwal, one month AFTER Ramadhan i.e. appr. in september 2011. By July/august you should have received a letter etc. and by Shawwal you should already sit in your room in Makkah and studying In shaa Allaah!

May Allah keep us firm and on the path of talab al3ilm.

(ps. all those who applied in 2011 will start in 2012, for this is the standard qualifying period as it always used to be. And yeah, those who applied in 2009 – like myself – had to wait TWO years … so don’t worry, be happy that most probably you have to wait for one year only)

  73. Aaisha Humaira Says:

Jazakallahu khaira brother for your reply.
I want to ask you when you called them?
Because last month I got to know through a friend residing in Makkah that still they are facing accomadation problem.
Brother did you speak to them in English or in Arabic over the phone?

  74. IseekIlm Says:

    wa iyyyaaki

    1. I talked to them in ARABIC mayne a little bit more than a month ago
(they don’t know no arabic anyway, of if they do they won’t understand you really …). Back then they said the problem is almost sorted and will be definately sorted for the new term (shawwal/september 2011)

    2. My friend resides there AND studies there, he confirmed it to me too, they told him it’s all sorted (this was like 1 week ago)

    so, tawakkali 3ala Allah.

  75. Muhamed Says:

    Assalamu Alaikum Akhi,

Can I talk to the Ummul Qura office in English?
    Will they understand me?

And Akhi I would like to know from which country you are from?

  76. IseekIlm Says:

    alaykum salam wa rahmatullah akhi,

I am from the UK akhi, and no …

… you can’t talk in English to them, sadly enough they don’t know barely any English. Just ask a friend to call for you (in arabic) I’ve explained before WHEN and HOW you can contact them, here again:

    ________
-You should CALL UP the following number: 009662 5562525
The number DOES work BUT I figured out that you have to call between 6-8AM UK TIME! try hard, even a couple of days.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Remember to get good grades in your college, and likewise make an effort to get in the good-books of the shaykhs/imaams at your local area so when you do approach them when you are 21 you can get good tazkiyahs…

  82. Assalaamualaykum
Please if you can tell me when studying Shar’iah at University of Umm al Qura, whether you have the opportunity to do hifz also (of complete Qur’an). Jazaakallah khayr

    • Wassalaamu ‘alaykum,

You will not be doing hifdh in your uni classes with your teachers, however no one can prevent you form doing hifdh on your own, or in al-masjid al-haram with one of the shuyookh…

  83. abu abdurahman Says:

can anyone tell me if umm qura is closed i’ve been trying to call them and know one picks up the phone. also the last time we spoke to them they said that they can’t give the list of exepted students to me but the were going to put it on there website. can any of the arabic speak please go on the umm qura website arabic section and check or get in contact with the university.

3…now what will be the best time to send my application by post? in Ramzan or after Ramzan(before Hajj) ??
    thanx

    • Wassalaamu ‘alaykum,

      1) Send copies.

      2) Its good if you can, however dont worry about it too much if you can’t. But once you get accepted then yes, you will need then attested by the Saudi embassy in your country.

      3) Ramadhaan / Shawaal time…

  88. Sherjil ali hashmi Says:

    asslam o aliakum
When does the procudere of registering to the umm al qura university ends? and I got all the documents that umm al qura wants. But there is one problem. The accomodation letters i have from the mosque, on that paper the saudi embassy dnt wnt to put a stamp on it. Can i send it without a stamp?
    (from the netherlands)
    Jazaakallah khayr

    • Wassalaau ‘alaykum,

The registration only ends when all the spaces have been filled up, there is no set date for this, everyone who aplies after the registration has been completed has their application form forwarded onto the next year’s registration pile.

You cam send the docs without the stamp, its ok for now, but once you get accepted, you would definitely need your docs stamped by the Saudi embassy in your country…

    By Abdirahman

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

      1) They want 6 (or 4) B’s in your GCSE’s however, as always, rules can be overlooked. Still apply and have your trust in Allaah.

      2) Definitely.

      3) Yes take your tazkiyah with you, take every document you need. Just go into the university and speak to someone there who can speak english. If no-one knows english, they will direct you to someone who does.

And sorry for the late response bro… Please do forgive me.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

As far as I can remember it is 6 B’s at a GCSE level. They are not bothered about anything higher, though if you have studied higher up, no harm in showing them these docs as well, as it shows them what you are doing.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

The arabic language course is for two years for those who can read and write Arabic, for those who cannot read and write Arabic, there is another two years couse before the speaking course. the book they are going through is the “Madeenah Arabic Book”, Book 1-3. However they just use that as the foundation and teach more than that.

The Application form is found in the original post above.

whats the cost of living for young couples in makkah?
can we afford that with the monthly stipend???

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

If you and your wife both get accepted into the uni, then the uni will provide accommodations for both of you. However you will be in the males section, and she will be in the females section. If you both wish to live together, then the uni will let you find your own place at your own cost. However I’m not aware of the living costs over there.

  122. Ibn_mohammad Says:

    Salaam walaykoem yaa agi,

Last Ramadan I applied for umm al qura. I gave them all the documents, but haven’t given them my school transcript. Would this be a problem?

    JazakAllahoe gayran,

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

If you miss out one of the main documents which they want then they will not consider your application. So I guess you need to apply again bro…

      • Ibn_mohammad Says:

        Salaam wa’laykum,

Where can I send the documents?Because the first time I was there and gave them it myself.

Do I need to send all the documents again or just the schooltranscript? And if you haven’t a schooltranscript? But I gave them my certificate.

Isn’t it now too late to send the documents? Because I want to apply for next year Incha Allah.

        BarakAllahoe fiek

  124. Asalamu Alaikum,

Is there any way I could get the textbooks used to learn arabic for non-natives at Um Al Qura.

Unfortunately we are unable to move to study at the moment but we are extremely keen to learn the language of the deen inshAllah.

We have found a teacher here alhumdulillah who uses the textbooks from Um al-qura as he really recommends them

So basically I really would appreciate if some one could tell me where I could order a few copies from!

    JazakAllah khairun

  125. Al-Ghosaibi Mohammad Jupli Says:

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu…

MashaALLAH your page is very helpful and informative for us who wants to study in islamic university. May ALLAH reward you Jannatul Firdaus and be one of the companions of Prophet Mohammad Sallallahi alaihi wa sallam in Jannah.

i just wanna ask if you also have the application form for the Qassim University (as i believed they now started accepting foreign student for college of Shariah) and also for the University of Imam Muhammad bin Saud in Riyadh.

    1. for this year 2012, when will be the last day of submission of application for admission in the university?

    2. do we have to mail(snail mail) our pertinent documents(requirements) or we may be allowed to just email it?

    3. when will they post or announce those applicant that have been accepted to the university for this year?

  126. Al-Ghosaibi Mohammad Jupli Says:

    just wanna add my queries/request:

do you have the email address and the mailing address(snail mail) for the four islamic university in saudi arabia (Islamic University of Madinah, Ummul Qura University in Makkah, Imam muhammad bin Saud University in Riyadh and Qassim University in Qassim)? is there other islamic university in saudi arabia that provide scholarship for foreigner? i wanted to send application to all Islamic university in Saudi Arabia. JAzakallahu khairan.

  127. Ibn_mohammad Says:

    No answer?

  128. Umm Abdullah Says:

    Assalamu Aleykum brother.
I mailed my application July 28th.
How and when will the uni announce
if I have been accepted or not?
May Allah reward you with much good
    Amin

    • Umm Abdullah Says:

Assalamu aleykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
      I forgot to mention:
I mailed my application in the year 2011.
Will I be considered for 2012-2013?
Hope to get a reply, because this has bothered me for a quite while.
      Barak’Allahu Feek.

      • Wassalaamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatUllahi wa barakaatuh,

If you sent them your app. form in july 2011 then they would consider you for September 2012 (on condition that the people organising the app. forms during Shawaal (October 2011) took last years left overs into consideration).

The best time however to apply is around Shawaal time, as thats when the new students start their term and when the admin start receiving new app. forms.

The uni announce the accepted students at Sha’baan/Ramadhaan time. Though usually Ramadhaan time. Now and then, some people’s papers get through the post a mont late, but even if that is the case, it doesn’t really change anything of being accepted.

        • Umm Abdullah Says:

Ok jazaakallah khayr brother for taking the time to answer me.
One last question inshaa Allah. It’s Ramadan, so do you know anybody who has been accepted? Cuz I haven’t got any letter from the university. Hmm maybe I should just forget it.
          Inshaa Allah khayr

  129. Saima Khan Says:

    Assalamu Aleykum, brother

I would like to apply for my son, could you please send me any registrations forms for international students or any other information regarding this university.

  130. Ibn Mohammad Says:

    Salaam walaykum,

Can I apply twice a year for umm a qura? Because the first time I didn’t have all the documents. And when is the deadline for 2012/2013?

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

      1) If you left out some of your main requirements, they will not consider your application form, so sending it again with all your required documents is good.

      2) There is no set deadline, however once the spaces get filled the uni then considers that the deadline. This usually occurs around Dhu’l-Hijjah time.

  131. Asalam alykum warahmaa tullahi waa baarakatu yaa ikhwaan how about if my grades are not that high but i have my my high school certificate

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

You need to have good results in your high school, but if however you don’t then as long as your tazkiyahs are of a high authority, then that should not be a big issue inshaaAllaah…

  132. i need edmission i am quran hafiz and matric or class salisa student my age 18.

  133. assalamu alaikum, baraakallahu fikuuum
is that possible for me to study there and join to the faculty of syari’ah straightaway without joining in arabic learning?
so i skip that section, hopefully i still master arabic skill even just a little, i’ll follow the rest by the time..
    jazakumullah..

    • Assalaamu ‘alayakum,

For those who can already speak, write, read and understand Arabic, you don’t need to go through the Arabic course. You will straight away go into the 4 year course.

  134. assalamua alaikum, baarakallu feek.

  135. amin mohamed Says:

    asalamu alaykum…
i applied last may(2011) and been looking for the acceptence list all over the web. do you know where they may post the names….hayakumu-llaah jamee’3an

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Hijrah.net usually have the lists published quite quick. But everyone who is accepted usually gets an acceptance letter through the post… If you applied in may 2011, you would probably be considered for acceptance in ramadhaan 1434 (i.e. next Ramadhaan, not this Ramadhaan coming), as you applied way after the time that they usualy get their places filled.

Asalam alykum Im 18 years old student that come from Sweden .
If I study 2 years of arabic language, can i directly start on the college of medical. And how much money do i have to pay for medical school?

  139. Nusayba Says:

    Assalaamu Alaykum!
since u said Mahram is a condition, can i take my little brother with me coz i’m nt yet married or watz the age a boy to be considered mahram??
an can i study in a boarding? an if yes, will my brother have to stay with me an become a student also?

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

      1) Yes you can take your little bro with you (as long as he’s baaligh and can live on his own).
      2) Allaahu ‘alam what age he would have to be…
      3) Yes your accommodation would be in the facilities provided by the uni…
      4) As long as your brother is there in Makkah that is sufficient, so if he can find work there that is good, if not, he can also apply along with you…

I’ll try finding out the minimum age limit for male mahrams for you inshaaAllaah…

      • does it need that the mahram is just in makkah? or can have in madina?what i am trying to say is the mahram is leaving in madinah not in makkah.

  140. i am an indian. I have completed my BA and i have above 80% marks in my second language arabi . kindly i request you to inform me what i have to do for my MA in Ummul khura university

  141. afthab ahmed Says:

Assalamu alaikum, May allah reward you for your efforts.
I’m an indian, i want to study in ummul-qura and i got all the required documents with me (except embassy attestation).
but now i am hesitant to apply as i have very less grade in high school. is there any chance of acceptance?
    Jazakallahu khair.

    • Wassalaamu ‘alaykum,

having the grades is a condition however not a strict condition. If one has decent tazkiyahs then that is good inshaaAllaah… Never opt out from applying as that is only form Shaytaan. So apply and send all your docs inshaaAllaah…

  142. Abrar Karim Says:

    Assalamualaikum
My name is Abrar Karim & I am 19 years old. I’ve passed my Dakhil/SSC examination. If I want to take an admission in the university Umm Al-Qura or Islamic University of Madina then what should I need to take an admission in the university? Please, it will be very helpful for me if you send me some information of admission & the session of both universities.

  143. the0bserver Says:

    Asalamualaykum,

Jazakallahukhairan brother for this informational blog.

My husband and I applied in June 2011. I understand from your previous posts that they will send acceptance letters in Ramadan/Shawwal, but isn’t that the same time the new semester begins?

And is it advisable that we send in a new application now to be considered for the next year in case our application is rejected this year? Or will sending another application cause confusion?

    BarakAllahufeekum

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

      1) Yes around Shawaal time is the time the new semester begins, but it is also the time when the admins filter through the newly arrived application forms, so if you can get your app. form at the desk as soon as the admins start dfiltering through that would be good as they go by a first-come basis…

      2) No re-sending docs won’t get confusing for them. I remember Aboo Abdis-Salaam telling me that he applied like 7 times over before he got accepted into Daar Al-Hadeeth in Makkah… Just don’t go OTT in sending your docs. Twice a year is no prob inshaaAllaah…

  144. QUESTION Says:

    Asalam alykum warahmatullahi wabaraktu

can someone please let me know once you are accepted and you have a wife who lives in a different country will the school bring your wife for you? how does it work out do they pay for you and your wife’s living because i have heard they don’t pay for it and i have heard they pay for it, and how long does it take for you to bring your wife? May Allah reward the person who anwsers this question and may Allah make it easy for all the students of Knowledge here who wants to go seek ilm

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

If you wish to take your wife with you then you wold need to find and pay for the accommodation yourself. The uni’s don’t cater for brothers who wish to have their wives living with them, as the rooms where the brothers stay are men-only areas.

  145. assalamo alaikom .. i am in philippines and i want to apply studying in umm al-qura university and i have already completed all of the requirements.. but my problem is how could i pass it in the university? makkah is very far from philippines.. is it possible to send via postal? im looking forward for your response..

  164. Assalam-o-Alaikum,

My name is Ayesha Siddiqui and I graduated from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Pakistan in May 2008. My major was in MIS (Management Information Systems) and HR (Human Resource), however, I have decided to change my field completely and learn Arabic and pursue a career in Shari’ah and Islamic Studies. I have studied complete Arabic grammar from a personal tutor and I can somewhat analyze the arabic syntax. I have also been reading some arabic text to improve my vocabulary and expand my knowledge base. Before pursuing post-graduation studies I would like to speak, read and understand Arabic completely.

I am a resident of Islamabad, Pakistan and would be applying as an International student.

    1) I would like to know if I can apply to any foundation courses to help me understand the language better.
    2) Also can I directly apply to your postgraduate program after completing the foundation course or do I have to pursue bachelors and then masters?
    3) My final goal is to complete a PhD in Fiqh or Usul-al-Fiqh. Kindly tell me the steps that I have to take to achieve that?
    4) Is there an age limit to apply to any of your post-graduation programs?
    5) What are the other requirements for enrollment, if any?
    6) It has been around 4 years since my last degree, is there any limit to the number of years after the last degree for applying to your program?
    7) I have completed my high school (12th grade) from New York, USA and language of teaching in bachelors degree was also English. In this case would I still need to provide the university with IELTS or TOEFL results?
    8) Do you offer any distance learning programs for foreigners?
    9) I am 25 years old right now and would like to apply to masters or PhD (not bachelors), is there an age limit to the masters program as well?

    Anxiously waiting for your reply.

    Regards,
    Ayesha Siddiqui

    Wa alikum Salam.

    • Assalaamu ‘alaykum,

Sorry for the delayed response. Sis, the only advice I can give to single sisters is to marry a bro who also wishes to study in the uni. Or marry a bro who has a CELTA certificate (i.e., he’s a qualified English teacher) as Saudi is always looking for English teachers.

  209. AsalamoAlaikum,

I live in jeddah with my parents. I am a pakistani female and would like to apply to umm al qura university. But since I am already living here how will that effect my application.

    • ummalqurah Says:

im a british national, living in jeddah and going to umm al quarah every day. that doesn’t effect your application. you apply, try going there it will be much better. but you must have iqama. then after your accepted, you start your classes, but your iqama isn’t under the uni, so you won’t get any benefits. but thats okay, if you don’t have any plans of getting into the actual university. the arabic language institute is in the same campus as the jaamia, but follows different rules. so in order to go to the jaamia, your iqaamah needs to be transferred..
hope this helps you. if you need any help email me at astudentatummalqurah@gmail.com

  216. the0bserver Says:

Asalamualaykum, To all those who applied for the September 2012 semester, the list has been finalized but the university is still working on obtaining visas for those students. Basically, it is being held up at the Ministry of Education for one reason or another. My husband and I applied in June 2011 and have tried through numerous sources to get any information on the list, but were never successful until my father in law went in person with a current student (while visiting for umrah) this past week. The school had not attempted to notify us that my husband was accepted Alhumdulillah, but Khair at least we know now. Currently, we are trying to figure out how to speed up this extremely lagging visa process. Apparently, a student currently enrolled there said that he was accepted and it took the school 1 whole year after that to finally get his visa to him. Khair, Alhumdulillah, these are the struggles of the Talib Ul Ilm. I would say, if you really want to get in, inshaAllah you can…. But you really need to step up your game and get someone to go there in person on your behalf to the Azizia men’s campus with a current student. Otherwise, there’s no other way in my opinion. Btw, there is a new law that they are only accepting the man/ husband first and once he Arrives there, he can apply for his wife/sister to come and study 6 months later.

I live in the USA and read that it sometimes never comes how can i make sure to receive this letter or what are the other ways in obtaining it. I would appreciate if someone can help me out in this matter. Thank you

    • Asalamualaykum, I’m from the US, my husband and I applied about 2 1/2 years ago. The only way we could find any info out is by having my father in law go directly to the campus when he was on umrah and demand answers. This was 6 months ago. They said we were accepted, but for the semester that started prior to that. They had not sent any word that we were accepted, nor did they even have a visa ready then. Since then, they said they’ll send a visa for the upcoming semester. It never came. I doubt it will ever come, AllahuAlam. We are now studying at the International Islamic University of Malaysia. (iium.edu.my) Alhumdulillah, it is amazing here, teachers from al Azhar, Madinah university, Umm ul qura and more. All Islamic studies taught in fusha Arabic. And they are very good with their admissions, it only took us a few months to apply and recurve acceptance letter. If you want more info, reply and I can send it to you iA. (Safiya.ravat at gmail) If Umm al qura is written for you, inshaAllah it will come. But for us, we made istikhara and decided for something else instead of waiting for a few more years. May Allah bless all of you in your studies. Ameen.

    Asalamu alaykum,

My name is Aisha, I live in USA, I am 16 years old and I graduated from high school in July 2014, alhamdulilah. I really would like to study at Umm al qura as soon as possible, but I have no mahram studying with me or one that lives in Meccah. Can my mahram come with me on my journey and drop me off at the sisters department and go back to his country(USA)? Also, do I fill out a special application stating that my mahram is only going on the journey with me and not staying or studying at umm al qura. If not, how do I go about explaining that.

    JazakaAllahu kayran
    PLEASE REPLY ASAP

    • Aisha Ahmed Says:

Can someone please for Allah’s sake answer my questions?

    • Walaykumuslam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh Dear Aisha :)
From what I know, you MUST have a Mahram guardian living in the city. He may not have to live with you in the Univ. But a mahram is needed as a guardian, who takes responsibility of you.
I wanted to go too, but because of no mehram going along I can’t.
It’s really sad but understandable because the mehram law is only for our protection and safety. Alhumdulillah
When the time comes, Allah will make it possible :)
